To Zulia and sons and David and Nancy-
So sorry to hear of Alan’s passing. I was glad to have visited with him recently after a 20-year hiatus – he still had that same smile from his teens despite the toll the disease had taken on his physical body. I have such fond memories of Alan growing up as teenagers in Ky — competing but rarely beating him in sports, his telling me about his like for some shaggy-haired group called the “Beatles”, partnering with him in delivering newspapers, impressed by his first car – a 1957 Mercedes-Benz – and cajoling with him in numerous pranks as a teen. He was always full of life and a trustworthy friend. He touched my life. May God bless you during this time of loss.

Dear Zulia,Alan, and Edward,
The girls, Kem,Jr. and I are so sorry. We wish we could be with you. You are in our prayers.
We reflect back on our Peachtree City Days with fond memories. Riding in the golf carts, our children playing together and our friendship. I’ve never had a better friend than you. My heart is heavy for your loss, feeling the grief you feel and yet full because of the love I know you had.
You asked what memory do I hold of Alan, it has to be how he loved tennis. It seemed like the first thing he did when he got home was change into his tennis stuff and off he went.
God Bless to ya’ll, we love you. Serena and the kids

Alan was a true friend and buddy. We shared many pleasures boating, motorcycles, stamp collecting, and just hitting tennis balls. His “rally game”( the rules always in question)is still being played on the courts of Peachtree City.He was always ready to play and his enthusiasm was contagious. Alan was fun loving and creative on and off the courts and we will all miss him.
Bob Erchinger says
IÆd like to express sympathy and encouragement to AlanÆs family. Alan is a great example of courage and persistence, not surprising based on what I learned in working with him for several years. Reading some of the comments of others, I see there are many things I didnÆt know about Alan. IÆm thankful for the chance to work with him and get to know him a little.

Dear Zulia,Alan and Edward:
Alan (an ambitious young man going to school and working full-time)and I go back to the 70s at IP in Minneapolis. His Dad, Ed Sawyer was in sales out of the Kansas City plant. We then worked together on a new product in Venezuela. We worked together breifly at IP in Atlanta. I had the opportunity to hire Alan and jumped on it because I couldn’t think of anyone I could count on more than Alan. In that time frame we met Walter Johnson who later hired Alan for the same reason.
Alan has meant so much to me as a friend, counselor, commuting partner, insurance man; but always as someone I could count on.
Alan has been on our prayer list and call log over the last 2 years. We will to keep you and your family on those lists.
Sincere Codolences, God be with you in your time of sorrow.
Gary & Linda Henzl
